So You Think You Can Dance!!??

Tonight the youth showcased their talent during the YW Fundraiser-Dinner and Talent Show. Meryl sang; Kaity and Chantel shook it (polynesian style); Natalie, Nicole, Chloe & Jennifer did a "glowing" performance; McKay, Dallin & Hunter grooved with Chantel and we even had a visit from Sonny & Cher! Below are a few of the hi-lights thanks to Sister Heath. (Yes...I know you were shocked that I was without my camera!!)

Spreadin' the LOVE!!

Everyone was excited to express their "LOVE" on this Valentines day as we celebrated McKay's birthday, decorated cookies for Chaparral and Meadowview wards, sang & played the guitar, cooked up our monthly pancake breakfast and shared gifts from the heart!! Happy Birthday McKay!!

Say it isn't so...Chlo!!!

Chloe shocked us all today when she showed up for seminary with a sprained ankle- Especially when it was the day of CHS Waterpolo league Finals! We compared today's lesson from Acts 8:1-4 about how the Lord allows His people to be tried to accomplish His purposes, to Chloe's trial. We talked about the pros and cons of her trial and what she'd possibly learn. Some of the pros were that she'd learn compassion for others who were hurt, patience, sympathy, gain strength from being on crutches. In Acts 8:1-4, the early church converts experienced persecution and many were scattered abroad which allowed them to preach the gospel in the places they went..which resulted in a great blessing. We talked about how all of our trials can be blessings in our life as we keep relying on the Lord for guidance and help. We can always look for the good in our experiences. PS: The class was surprised to find out that Chloe wasn't really hurt...but was just part of our lesson-WHEW! (also-CHS Varsity Waterpolo WON!)

RAGWORT (rag-wurt)n.

A wild plant with yellow flowers and ragged leaves.

Today we had Natalie, Kendra, Nicole and Kaity all trying to convince us of what the REAL definition of Ragwort was. All those with the fake answers were so convincing, that no one even guessed Kaity who had the correct answer.
We read Acts 5:1-11 and talked about the consequences of lying, doubting people, and also not fulfilling our commitments to people as a form of lying. We then read a quote from President Hinckly: "In our time those found in dishonesty do not die as did Ananias and Sapphira, but something within them dies. Conscience chokes, character withers, self-respect vanishes, integrity dies" (in Conference report, Apr 1976). We also read a great story about a boy who was trying to beat the record for rope climbing at his jr. high school and that his integrity made him a real winner!
(PS-we found out the next day Russell was so inspired by the rope climbing story that he climbed a coconut tree!!?? haha)

Scripture Block for Feb 1st-7th

I apologize for not posting our reading blocks for quite some time, however, with all the school holiday vacations accounted for, you should have completed the 4 Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John) and should have started Acts last week. This week's block is Acts 6-12.
